We are a Curriculum Pioneer School and will be playing a crucial role in developing an ambitious and exciting new curriculum for Wales for 2022.

Foundation Phase

In Foundation  Phase we strive to provide a friendly, stimulating and enriching environment where children learn through play. There is a balance between focused learning and activities chosen by the child. We place a huge emphasis on outdoor learning across the day and children regularly take part in Forest School activities both on the school site and at a local site. We feel very strongly about providing  Pupil Voice by inviting the children to choose the topics they would like to learn about as well as the activities they would like to do.

Additionally we provide the children with opportunities to showcase their talents or experience new opportunities through our enrichment afternoons.

We welcome parents and visitors from the community to both assist and enhance the children's school experiences.

Key Stage 2

Our children are at the centre of all their learning; involved in choosing topics as well as the activities we do in class.  They are also responsible for their home learning tasks, which cater for all interests, adding depth and understanding to our chosen topic.

We ensure they have access to a rounded curriculum, with the right balance of academic, digital, musical, creative and sporting activities.

We provide the children with many exciting opportunities such as Enterprise projects, Forest School, Eisteddfod, Carol Concerts, Enrichment Days, Sporting competitions and much more.

We take pride in our involvement with the community and welcome visitors from workplaces and beyond to enhance our learning experiences.



The children are encouraged to develop existing talents and to develop new skills through choosing their own studies beyond the prescribed curriculum in a series of enrichment afternoons, held each term. Activities on offer include archery, needlework, science, stop start animation, muddy maths and Master Chef. We have found these sessions have also raised self-esteem, increased confidence which has been transferred into the classroom, improved relationships, developed friendships across year groups and inspired staff to share their skills and talents.
